During the Independence Day of Brazil, Águas de Lindóia and Golegã celebrated the union of the cities, opening a new mark in Águas de Lindóia downtown. Águas de Lindóia won a new twin European city and a new passion: The Puro Sangue Lusitano Horse.
Proposed by ABPSL and promptly accepted by both cities, the adoption of the new conception of twin-cities looks for cultural interchange, sport and many others positive aspects.
With the presence of main authorities of both cities in front of Adhemar de Barros Square, as the Mayor of Águas de Lindóia, Martinho Mariano, the Mayor and the President of the House of Representatives of Golegã, José Veiga Maltez and Luís Filipe Cortez Vaz Godinho and also the ABPSL President, Geraldo Lefosse, and the superintendent of APSL João Ralão Duarte, and others authorities and citizens.
“Today my soul is happy because we made a dream come true”, said the President of the Brazilian Puro Sangue Lusitano Breeders Association, in the speech opening.
After the Brazilian and Portuguese national anthems, the union was sacred by the milestone. And for our happiness, the best news is that the Lusitano Horse Festival is already programmed to take place in Águas de Lindóia at the same date in 2010.
During the event at Burle Marx Place, we saw the festival’s presentations, where all did a very beautiful show of movements in Dressage, Riding School, Driving, Working Equitation and Show Jumping, and also the parade in the city downtown. The event was a terrific success.
